Drive by theatre series by Michael Calanan

Michael Calanan is a photographer who photographs people, places, and just about anything. He lives in Denver, Colorado. He works in transportation and is a railroad baron. But he is a freelance photographer too. For his clients he does event coverage, stock photo licensing, photo retouching and restoration, film and slide scanning and fine art landscape prints. He has done the cover shot of Wasatch Women magazine (His first cover shot) back in january of 2009.

Michael was inspired by NYC photographer David Bradford’s "drive by shootings" photos so he tried making a "drive by shootings" series as well. He took his drive by pictures in Buffalo, NY- Salt Lake City,UT- Denver, CO.

I like how he has the perfect amount of focus in his pictures. And I like the idea, also each picture never has a person centered in the middle thus making his pictures better looking. His pictures have good natural lighting and arent over exposed. Because of the quality and angle of each picture they are interesting.

Michael had this to say about his drive by theatre:
 "The series has evolved to become a mobile movie set where I document moments when pedestrian and cityscape combine to form interesting scenes.

As a pedestrian most of us never consider our place in relation to the rest of the city as we walk along towards our destination. From behind the wheel, however, pedestrians are seen as on a stage, surrounded by buildings as backdrops and interacting with strangers as fellow cast members and objects as props."
